Case study · CL2 Solutions · Valrico, Florida

A rep firm's site that sat there, rebuilt into a lead generation system.

CL2 Solutions represents 15 water and wastewater lines across Florida and Georgia. The old site had a phone number and no way to request a quote. Here's what we changed, why each change matters for a rep firm, and what happened in the first two days.

The challenge

The expertise was there. There was no way for a buyer to act on it.

If you run a rep firm, the old site will look familiar. It looked like a business. It didn't work like one.

The value was buried

Visitors had to work to understand what CL2 actually did, where, and why it mattered. The homepage led with a tagline and no clear next step.

For a rep firm: a distributor or engineer decides in seconds whether you're the right rep for their territory. If the site doesn't say it, they assume you're not.

Finding equipment meant knowing the brand

The site assumed the visitor already knew which manufacturer or product line to look for. One brand page at a time, nothing organized by what the buyer is trying to solve.

For a rep firm: a plant operator knows the problem, not always the brand. Your line card should meet them there.

Nowhere to become a lead

No form, no quote request, no structured way in. An interested buyer had to invent their own next step, so most of them left instead.

For a rep firm: the request that never gets sent is the quote you never knew you lost.

What changed

Six changes, each with a job.

The rebuilt site is how we delivered it. Every piece below answers a question a buyer asks before they ask for a price.

01First screen

Say what you provide, where, and what to do next.

The old homepage led with a tagline. The new one keeps the water-treatment identity but gives it a job.

  • A concrete value proposition. What CL2 helps provide is the first thing on the page, not something to infer from the rest of the site.
  • Territory on the first screen. Florida and Georgia appear at the point of entry, so a qualified regional visitor knows CL2 serves their market.
  • Two obvious next steps. Get in touch, or find equipment. No hunting through navigation to guess which page has the answer.
Why this matters for a rep firmThe first screen now shows the three-step process and the 15 lines, FL and GA, install and service, and a real person to talk to. That's the whole pitch a buyer would otherwise have to call to hear.

02Product discovery

Let a buyer start from the problem, not the brand name.

Instead of expecting visitors to know the manufacturer they need, the site lets them start with the problem they're solving, then guides them to the right line and the next step.

  • Search for equipment or a manufacturer. Start with whatever the customer knows.
  • Filters by application. Monitoring, analysis, flow, valves, mixing, gas detection, wireless, temperature and pressure, chemistry, climate.
  • CL2 as the organizing layer. It reads like a rep guiding the customer to the right line, not a directory of outside brands.
Why this matters for a rep firmA wall of logos tells a buyer nothing and tells Google less. Every line written out and organized by application means a plant operator can find you by the problem, and your line card becomes the answer.
The rebuilt CL2 equipment page: a recommendation path, search, and filters by application The original CL2 manufacturer page: one brand at a time BeforeAfter

Left: one brand at a time. Right: a recommendation path, search, and application filters.

03Quote capture

Capture the request, in full, and route it.

This is the part a web designer doesn't build, and the reason the rest of the work matters. The original site had no form at all.

  • A conversion point where there wasn't one. Every interested visitor has an obvious place to become a lead.
  • Useful sales context. Company or plant, product interest, contact details, and the actual process need arrive with the inquiry.
  • Routed to the founder, tested before launch. Delivery was submitted and confirmed received before the site went live. A form nobody has tested is not a lead system.
Why this matters for a rep firmThe first reply can be a recommendation or a price, not "can you tell me more about the application?" The site no longer ends with a phone number in the footer.
The rebuilt CL2 contact section: a quote request form with company, product interest and process need, routed to Jason The original CL2 contact page: address, phone and email, no form BeforeAfter

Left: a phone number and an address. Right: a quote request that arrives with the details.

04Trust

Answer the questions the old site left open.

Three new sections explain why the relationship with CL2 matters after the product is found, and what happens after a buyer reaches out.

  • Why CL2. Direct manufacturer relationships, one point of contact, Florida and Georgia focus, install and service for represented equipment, a real person answering the phone.
  • How CL2 works. Explain the application, get an equipment recommendation, let CL2 coordinate fulfillment and support. The customer doesn't need to arrive with a finished spec.
  • A guided path. Customers who know what they need search directly; customers who don't start with a recommendation path.
Why this matters for a rep firmDistributors and engineers buy from the rep they trust to handle it. Show them how the relationship works before they call, and the call starts further along.

05Assistant

An assistant that answers after hours.

CL2 had the question volume to justify it. The assistant answers buyers' questions from CL2's own information, explains products and applications, and moves high-intent visitors toward the quote form when a conversation gets specific enough to be worth a real reply.

  • Answer, 24/7. Plant problems, applications, products, quotes, next steps. Immediate guidance without waiting for someone at CL2 to be free.
  • Guide. A visitor who doesn't know the manufacturer name or the technical term gets pointed to the right product path.
  • Convert. When the question becomes a real sales opportunity, the assistant directs the visitor to contact CL2.
Why this matters for a rep firmThe questions come in at 9 PM and on Saturday. Now they get an answer, and the good ones turn into a quote request waiting in the inbox on Monday. The one in the corner of this page is the same kind.

06Performance

Measured, not asserted.

A lead system only works if people can reach it. Mobile performance went from 51 to 100 and SEO from 85 to 100, measured on Google PageSpeed Insights before and after.

  • Every Melusi build clears 95+ mobile performance and 100 SEO before launch, and no later change is allowed to drop below those numbers.
  • Fast on a phone on a job site. A contractor on 4G gets the page in a second, not a spinner.
Why this matters for a rep firmHalf your buyers open your site on a phone, often somewhere with one bar. A slow page is a closed page, and Google ranks slow pages lower for everyone else.

FAQ

Questions rep owners ask about this build

Will the same thing happen for my firm?

We don't know, and we won't tell you it will. Two leads in two days is what happened for CL2, stated with their permission. What we can say is that the three gaps CL2 had (a first screen that didn't say what they do, a line card you could only navigate by brand, and no way to request a quote) are the same three gaps we see on most rep firm sites. The free audit tells you which ones you have.

Did CL2 have to change how they quote?

No. Quote requests land in Jason's inbox with the company, plant, product interest and process need already filled in. He replies the way he always has, with fewer emails back and forth to get the details.

Is the assistant part of every build?

It's scoped per build. CL2 had the question volume to justify it, so it's included on cl2solutions.com. Every build is quoted as one fixed number in writing before any work starts, so you'll know exactly what's in yours.

What did the CL2 build cost?

We don't publish client pricing. Every build is quoted as one fixed number in writing before work starts, and nothing begins until you approve it. The audit that comes first is free.

Can I see the live site?

Yes: cl2solutions.com. Try the product finder, the quote form and the assistant in the corner. That's the system, running for a real rep firm.

Same problem?

If buyers land on your site and have no obvious way to ask for a quote, that's the thing we fix.

Send us your site. Parker reviews it personally and sends back a short written summary: what's working, what's costing you quotes, and what he'd build first. Free, no obligation, usually within a day or two.
